England Youth Championships
The England Youth Championships is England Fencing’s flagship youth event and is the largest youth open-entry competition in the UK.
England Fencing is dedicated to providing an athlete-centred first-class experience to all who attend the EYCs.
The 2024 EYCs will be held on 29-30 June 2024.
This is going to be a fantastic event and celebration of youth fencing in England so make sure you are there!

Entries
Entries are via AllEntries (allentries.co.uk). The entry fee is £39.50, and entries close at 23:59 on 31 May 2024.
Entries after this date will be possible for a total late entry fee of £60. No entries will be accepted after 23:59 on 21 June 2024.
A waiting list will be in effect for any categories that reach their entry cap. If an event reaches its cap, please do enter the waiting list and we will do our best to enable you to fence.
Age categories
The Age category is based on the year in which the fencer was born.
U11 born 2013 or 2014,2015.
U13 born 2011 or 2012
U15 born 2009 or 2010.
The U11 category is open to 3 birth years to provide experience to more young fencers.
Format
There will be one round of poules to establish seeding with all fencers promoted to the Direct Elimination (DE) round.

You can have a wonderful experience helping the parents, fencers and organisers in a great venue.
You will also have the oppportunity to learn new skills associated with fencing competitions and discovering support areas that might be of interest to you.
Armoury
There will be an armoury service available to help fencers with mostly minor equipment issues.
There will also be a kit stand in case you need to purchase new equipment.
Referees
The competition will be fully refereed throughout.

Please note that referees must be over the age of 16 on the date of the competition and accommodation is only available for referees over the age of 18.
Media
Please note there will be filming, photography and live streaming at this. If you do not give photography/filming permission for yourself or your athlete, please contact ey*@****************rg.uk before the event.
Bags
For safety reasons athletes should not bring fencing bags or other large bags into the main fencing halls. Bags should be kept in the designated areas.

Foil
U11 and U13
- 350N or 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- Size 3 Foils or below
- NO Lame bib or Mask wire required
U15
- 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- Size 5 Foils or below
- All competitors must have a Lame bib and Mask wires
The FIE standard chest protectors (those covered with an FIE approved soft layer) for Foil are NOT required for this event.
Epee
U11 and U13
- 350N or 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- Size 2 Epees or below
U15
- 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- Size 5 Epees or below
New epee wire sockets (with central hole) are NOT required at this event.
Sabre
U11 and U13
- 350N or 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- 800N Sabre Glove
- Size 2 Sabres or below
U15
- 800N Plastron
- 350N Mask, Jacket and Breeches
- 800N Sabre Glove
- Size 5 Sabres
A second mask strap, or looped mask strap, is NOT required for any of the weapons at this event.
Bout lengths
Poule Matches
All poule matches are fenced to 5 hits or 3 minutes.
Foil & Epee Direct Elimination
U15 Direct Elimination matches are 15 hits or 3 periods of 3 minutes.
U11 & U13 Direct Elimination matches are 10 hits or 3 periods of 2 minutes..
Sabre Direct Elimination
U15 Direct Elimination matches are to 15 hits with a 1 minute break when the first fencer reaches 8 hits.
U11 & U13 Direct Elimination matches are to 10 hits with a 1 minute break when the first fencer reaches 5 hits.
