What’s this all about??

As part of England Fencing’s offering to ALL England Regions, Counties and Clubs, we are giving you access to Ophardt through our own subscription to this amazing service used by multiple fencing federations worldwide to support their regions and their fencers.

What do clubs, counties and regions get?

A back office for your club, region or county organisation.

The ability to create your own events and calendars.

Email functionality so you can email your members – this is not visible to anyone other than yourselves.

Register your members and keep their details secure and GDPR compliant.

Safeguarding measures built into member records allow you to automatically email parents or guardians for all emails to members under 21.

Regional adminstrators will be able to email their member clubs and counties as long as the club or county has affiliated itself to the region and has a valid email on record.

Club administrators are able to go direct to club members and see their details. Regional and Counties administrators cannot access individual member records and have to go through clubs.

What do the fencers get?

Because we enter their competition data, the fencers build up their own fencing biographies.

With time, as all competition organisers send through proper data – it’s really easy to do – the fencers will be able to see their:

Results

Individual matches with the scores

A graph of the results

Statistics on their wins and losses

And a whole load more.

How about referees?

As organisers get more proficient at running competitions and entering the referees allocated to each poule or each fight, this data will become automatically available.

The data then gets added to the referee’s biography.

If you are a fencer and a referee you will see both sets of stats.

This will also, we hope, be extremely useful for referee mentors as well as the referees in keeping track of progress and development opportunities.

Is there anything for competition organisers?

Of course there is.

Once referees have entered their details organisers will be able to email them in bulk to get the right numbers for their competitions.

Competitions can be set up easily in the system – either with or without the use of the competition software itself.

Entries into the calendar are simple and you can put in links to a separate payment platform or take payment direct.

England Fencing will be providing a number of standard texts to help improve consistency of approach to things such as health and safety and safeguarding.

But you can also add a whole host of other details.

Do I have to do it?

No.

Though if you want people to come to your competitions why wouldn’t you? That way you are on the calendar, you can roll the event forward each year with ease and get all sorts of time saving benefits.

If you are running an U14 England Ranking competition we will ask you to set up the event in the calendar if it is not there already as the events have to be there to be in the rankings. But we will help you a lot – especially in 2023.

Will it work?

The Sabre Club trialled various parts of the system including the U14 Sabre rankings in 2022 and it worked really well. So now England Fencing is rolling it out to Foil and then Epee.

Fill in the form with the details

Username: your region if you are the regional administrator or your club if you are a club administrator

First name, Last name – your own name

Nation of your club – choose GBR – there isn’t an option for ENG as England does not count as a nation for FIE purposes.

Email – please use the email you use as administrator for your club or region

Password is obvious.

Then you will receive an email which you need to confirm while selecting the Link in the URL.

Finally write to pe*********@****************rg.uk

We can then carry out some checks before granting you administration rights as club, region or county.
