Veterans Home International 2017 – The Justin Smith Trophy
This was the 11th time the event had been held and we were in Dun Laoghaire, just South of Dublin. For the first time the event was held in one day with 3 weapons in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. Again England dominated the event winning all weapons but women’s foil where Scotland took the honours. Many of the matches were close and the competition fierce, however, there is always a great atmosphere with much vocal support. On Saturday night there was a gala dinner in the Royal St George Yacht Club with a raffle which raised over €500 for Irish Cancer Research.
Many thanks to Ireland for organising the event and we look forward to Scotland hosting next year possibly in Glasgow.
